I am a big fan of RamaniChandran. I like many authors too like Sujatha, Sivasankari, Lakshmi, BalaKumaran, Kalki, Agilan, Rajeshkumar, Anuradha ramanan, .. the list is endless. But slowly I drifted to Ramani Chandiran and now anchored to her.
And how did this ardent reader become an amateur writer?.. It all started so sudden.. Thanks to my dear husband who seeded the idea in a very unassuming way. :-)
I have around hundreds of RamaniChandran books. And read her stories 'n' number of times.
When there were no more of her books to read, my husband laughed at my restlessness and teased me saying, "Anyways you say RamaniChandran follows a set template, so why can't you write a story in a way you like and read it yourself ? May be you could publish it in your blog and 'crazy பொண்ணுங்க' like you can also read it! "
And that's how it all started. :-)
(I know, I know..RC fans like us are in no way crazy. If anything, we are crazy after our husbands.

Yesterday evening after a long stressful day from work, I started reading your book which was around 7:00PM in the evening. Took a break for the children for an hour to feed the kids and started again with your "Mithuna" and " Nalandan" . I thoroughly enjoyed each and every narration of yours and sequence of events. You gave a feeling of reading a Ramani Chandran's work. It was much more motivating to reach the end, so read it little slowly , since my Tamil reading speed is now little detoriated. Appreciated the every little incidences you had coined and thought that it is your work slowed me down further to enjoy the details. Nearly came to the end of the story and found up to chapter 63 at around 3:00 AM in the morning. I am really looking forward to see the end... Where is it???? Send me the link ... My husband was laughing at me this morning when I said , I was awake to till 3:00 in the morning without reading the grand finale.

The story is also interesting and entertaining. It is so good that I read thro' the first 39 chapters in one sitting. After that i was frequently visiting your blog to check for your next post. I finished the complete story. It was like a sivarathri , I read on and on till early morning 3 and finished as soon as the last chapters were uploaded. I enjoyed a lot....

ReplyDeleteI am more of a magazine browser than novel reader...if I was able to read 20+ chapters in one night?!!! it was only because that I could n't resist to know what is next...The one chapter (Sorry I don't remember the #) where she feels helpless was very touchy...
Really enjoyed the story. Just couldn't believe that this is your first novel, it was like reading an experienced writer's work. And the ending is quite heartwarming. Good Work Then!!!
ReplyDeleteI liked it overall very much. I never had patience to read novels, but really I couldn’t let this one down. A beautiful கற்பனை காதல் கதை that any middle class girl would have dreamt to live, narrated with so much perfection in levels of emotions, decency, flawless content, sense of humor and fluency. The Rich language Maaan! Thenu, it did make me read some lines over and over again to fully enjoy the meaning. I think that’s what creates interested readers.

ReplyDeleteA quite good story just like RC mam... Wanna appreciate for ur writing first of all and still i cant able to beleive that this is ur first attempt.
A curious language/style is there on the entire story. Read this novel in a single day, bcoz i cant able to stop anywhere within the novel.
But wanna say something... (Plz dont mistake me & this is purely my thoughts only - not pointing u/ to pintch u)!!!
You have follwed the same as RC mam style- a well financial status personility hero and a middle class heroine, as u said in the introduction of this novel... the novel is going good...
But why u have choosen a hero with some playboy characteristics??? May this character be necessary to explain about "Nalandan" I accept it. But..
I hope u may aware of this... Some(Most)of the RC mam fans too, does not like the hero with a playboy character.. And even RC mam also has changed her style of writing reg this(showing his hero as a playboy)at present. I am expecting the hero may also show some more genuinism.. thats it.
Sorry i never thought to hurt u, but if anything on my comment hurts u, i really very sorry...
And one thing, i am going to share this novel with my indusladies frnds...
Is the paintings displayed yours? Quite good just like ur name "thenu"..

I don't know why I let 'Nalandan' wander that way, Bharathi.. Also I don't know if we can typecast him as a 'playboy' either..
Apart from going out with girls, he never indulged in cheating or other immoral activities..
He has his values like 'being responsible', 'respect a girl's feelings', 'knowing his limits'..
I did not intend to fully take RC's path.. also did not decide that I should not take her path.. so I guess there will be some similarities yet some dissimilarities..
I just let my heart flow in the direction it wanted to go.. you know like a river that just follows gravity and finds its course..
But come to think of it.. most of my fav heroes in RC collections were 'Nalandan' type.. Guess I have a wierd taste! ;-)
But I shall keep your comment in mind and shall bring out a 'genuine goody goody boy' to life in one of my future novels. Will dedicate it to Bharathi. Deal?!

Hi Thenu, Bychance i came across your Irul Maraitha Nizhal story. As i started to read the story directly, for first few chapters i really thought i was reading RamaniChandran novel. When i read the comments, i realised it was you, then went back reading authors page!! Congrats and you've given a wonderful novel!!
